Pyromellitic Dianhydride (PMDA) is an indispensable raw material in the chemical industry because of its versatility and application in many fields.

The applications of Pyromellitic Dianhydride (PMDA) include:
• Synthetic polyimide film:
PMDA is the key raw material for the manufacture of polyimide film, which is known as “gold film” because of its excellent heat resistance and mechanical properties, and is widely used in flexible screens, rail transit, aerospace, fireproof materials, photoresist, electronic packaging and other fields.

• Heat resistant polymer:
Through chemical reactions associated with PMDA, polybenzimidazolpyrrolidone can be prepared, which has stronger radiation resistance and oxidation resistance than polyimide, but less alkaline resistance, and is mainly used in the field of space technology.

• Plasticizer:
PMDA can react with different alcohol to produce a variety of plasticizers, such as tetrabutylphthalate (TBPM) and tetrabutylphthalate (TOPM). These products have good electrical insulation and heat resistance, suitable for the production of heat-resistant high-voltage cables, heat-resistant polyvinyl chloride and high-grade artificial leather.

• Epoxy resin curing agent:
Pyromellitic Dianhydride (PMDA), as a curing agent for epoxy resins, is used in the manufacture of motor materials, anti-leakage motor materials and high temperature resistant adhesives, which have excellent insulation properties and heat resistance.

• Other applications:
PMDA can also be used as an additive for water treatment agents, metal etchant agents, leather softeners, as well as diesel low temperature performance modifier, electronic photography tone modifier and high temperature lubricant.
